Sustainability Communication Programme We are currently designing and developing our Rotana EARTH micro site and content on Rotana’s main web page to communicate and launch with stakeholders. The site will be active in the third quarter of 2013 and will be linked to booking engines and search engines. We will also create property specific sustainable identities on various social networking sites. Setting Corporate Targets & Selection of KPIs As a result of the maturity assessment, surveys analysis and benchmarking we have selected most relevant sustainability KPIs for our operation and will be setting corporate short and long term targets for the group as well as hotels goals. Sustainability Programmes Our sustainability plan is underpinned by the implementation of genuine environmental, social and economic sustainability initiatives and programmes. Training and Communication We aim to instill a culture of sustainability through education, training and promotion of sustainability values and principles amongst our colleagues and stakeholders through various education, awareness and training programmes and events. Monitoring & Reporting We will continually improve our sustainability performance by measuring and reporting our progress and identifying opportunities and innovative strategies to enhance our performance. A reporting Methodology is developed to collect and validate data for the sustainability report. Sustainability Audits Sustainability audit is crucial to measure progress towards sustainability goals. Internal and external audits have a key role in the journey toward sustainability by continuously assessing the extent to which the sustainability programmes are implemented within the company and our hotels. An internal audit protocol will be developed for Rotana hotels and sustainability criteria are added to the existing annual corporate vice presidents audits to their respective hotels audits. Awards and Certifications We aim to have our efforts, activities and achievements recognised by leading local and international organisations. Annual Review We will continually improve our sustainability performance by reviewing annually our strategies, goal programmes and achievements to identify opportunities and keep on enhancing our performance. Sustainable Building Guideline It s imperative to design our new projects following sustainable building criteria’s. We have integrated some criteria in the existing Rotana building guideline and we aim to develop a building guideline for new projects to promote the development of Rotana sustainable buildings and reduce operation impact and cost. Partnership and Affiliation We believe that in sustainable development, businesses, public authorities, government, nonprofit organisations and social society work in partnership in order to reconcile the three fundamental constituents of development: economy, ecology and social equity.
