25 Our Stakeholders Stakeholders Identification An initial stakeholder’s identification was done during a brain storming session of Environment, Health & Safety Directors and in consultation with each department’s Corporate Vice President, trying to analyse how different individuals or organisations are affected, and how they affect us. The following factors were taken in consideration to identify our stakeholders: responsibility, influence, proximity, dependency and representation. Below is the list of who Rotana considers to be its most material stakeholders: • Our Colleagues • Our Guests • Our Owners • Our Suppliers • Our Environment • Our Communities (including governmental bodies) As we continue our progress, we will continue to define and redefine our stakeholders and our interaction with them. Stakeholders Dialogue The dialogue developed between Rotana and our guests and colleagues during the previous years was in the forms of analysing the feedbacks received from the colleagues satisfaction surveys and guests satisfaction surveys and comments, which allowed us to appreciate different viewpoints and to understand better how our business value propositions can be aligned with the goals of our guests and colleagues and those of the society at large. Stakeholders Expectations Different stakeholders mean different expectations, which may be contradictory to one another. Rotana aims to balance differing expectations, while allowing all stakeholder groups to feel their demands are being met. We involve our stakeholders in strategic decision making and setting of guidelines that clearly indicate management responsibility. We also proactively share information on our progress toward these on a regular basis. Achieving leadership in sustainability management requires a comprehensive understanding of stakeholders’ expectations and needs. Our stakeholders and our engagement with them have evolved over Rotana’s long history, rather than as a result of a formal defined process.
