Rotana Corporate Sustainability Report 2012

We have started to assess the paper we utilise for printing, copying, offices, collaterals we buy and to review how we may ensure that our operational needs are not met at the expense of exploiting the world’s forest resources. Forestry that is managed poorly has catastrophic environmental and socio-economic impacts. Uncontrolled deforestation in the paper and timber industry supply chain is a significant global issue. In line with our sustainability vision, we have taken steps to switch to recycled paper. The towel and bed sheets reuse programme cards are printed on recycled papers. In 2012, 30% of our hotels have shifted to A4 office papers made from post consumer recycled materials. Chemical Consumption We strive to use eco-friendly chemicals for housekeeping, laundry, stewarding activities and always look for avenues to reduce our chemical consumption by implementing dosing systems, automatic dispensers, minimum effective dilutions, low temperature chemicals, no rinse chemicals and continuous training of colleagues on chemical usage. Rotana has signed a corporate agreement with Ecolab chemical provider. Its approach to sustainability matches with our objectives to increase our efficiency, improve our sustainability performance and enhance our business results.
