5 About This Report Rotana Hotel Management Corporation PJSC is proud to present its first Annual Sustainability Report that features quantitative and qualitative data for the calendar year 2012, with additional data from previous years, related to material issues or notable information. Scope and Boundary The reporting scope is global, unless otherwise noted for situations or circumstances where reporting data are collected and available only for a certain geography, business or issue. The report covers all Rotana hotels, all four brands, 46 operating hotels in the Middle East and Northern Africa region and their material economic, environmental and social impacts. Materiality Rotana has prepared this report under the direction of the company’s Corporate Sustainability Committee (CSC). Materiality of the content and its prioritisation were assessed and determined by the committee members, which has representation from senior executive management: corporate vice presidents of the following operations: human resources, food and beverage engineering, marketing, front office materials, information technology and environment health & safety, and the company corporate operation officer. The report was developed to provide information to guests, colleagues, shareholders, owners, contractors, suppliers, non-governmental and governmental organisations, media and the communities, in which the company operates. Issuing the report is a result of the declaration of commitment signed by the company CEO to publish an annual sustainability report, while joining the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group. Application Level In preparing this report, Rotana used the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI-G3.1) Guidelines. Rotana self-declares this report to meet GRI Application Level C. The GRI Index is located in Appendix A. In this document, Rotana reports on the G3 indicators that were relevant to our business operation and where data is available for previous years and more indicators that were measured in 2012. Rotana did not employ an external agency or organisation to audit this report. However, the company recognises the importance of independent external assurance to enhance the credibility of the report and will contain to examine options to obtain third party review of future reports.
